From the moment she was diagnosed with a glomuvenous malformation at just two years old, Madalynn Anderson’s life has been shaped by resilience, authenticity, and a deep desire to create change. Living with a visible birthmark on her face, she experienced early the sting of being misunderstood. She’s been asked if she’d been hurt, called names by those too young to know better, and made to feel like an outsider in her own skin.

But over time, Maddie found strength in her story, transforming what once felt like a limitation into her greatest platform for impact. Through her initiative, Beyond the Beauty Mark, Maddie invites the world to embrace differences, not as something to overcome, but as something to celebrate. She hosts a podcast that gives voice to individuals with visible and invisible differences. Creating a space where stories are told without apology, and where beauty is redefined through courage, vulnerability, and truth.

A first-generation and summa cum laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh in just three years, Maddie holds a Bachelor’s in Rehabilitation Science and a Certificate in Psycho-social Issues in Rehabilitation. She is now a graduate student at Pitt’s Physician Assistant School, blending her personal experience with her professional path to advocate for inclusive, empathetic healthcare.
Maddie’s accomplishments stretch far beyond academics. From managing Pitt’s Division I Women’s Basketball team and traveling the ACC, to serving as VP of Administration for Delta Zeta sorority and earning national scholarships, her leadership shine’s through every facet of her life.
Today, as a Global Ambassador for the Vascular Birthmark Foundation and a voice for those who have ever felt like they don’t “fit in” Maddie stands as proof that our greatest challenges can become our most powerful platforms. Her message is simple but profound: we do not have to fit into the stereotypes society has built for us. You define your life, not someone else. Always remember, some people just may not be able to see your sparkle, and that is okay! Your value doesn’t decrease because of someone else’s inability to see it.

Maddie believes that Love’s Reflection is exactly what this world needs, a little bit more love. This organization will spread so much love and kindness to people who need it most. Bringing joy into their lives in times of need. She can’t wait to continue to touch more lives and spread the mission of Love’s Reflection.
